We at Hamburg Hackertours show you around the city!

38c3 Electrum - The Museum of Electricity

The electrum is Hamburg’s Museum of Electricity and Technology in Harburg’s inner harbour. Nothing works without electricity—for 130 years, electricity is part of our daily lives. You will find about one thousand technical devices from all ages at electrum.

You do not have to be a tech nerd to discover interesting and curious electrical devices from back in the day in electrum’s unique collection. Certainly, you will find familiar, once common and long forgotten articles here. You may admire grandma’s radio, a pink hair dryer, a monochrome cabinet TV or a tray toaster and a lot more. In addition, a lot of extraordinary and unknown items from the world of electricity, such as a Siemens dynamo or a “suspended frying pan” are waiting for you, yet to be discovered.
