We at Hamburg Hackertours show you around the city!

38c3 Gängeviertel

Just a stone’s throw away from the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH) is the historic “Gängeviertel” (German for “alleyway district”): On this tour, you will learn more about one of the most famous projects of the alternative scene in Germany.

Gängeviertel

Until the middle of the 20th century, the area of the Gängeviertel extended from the seaport and the district of Neustadt to the city centre of Hamburg. It was a maze of dilapidated half-timbered houses - and a home for the poor and outcasts in one of Europe’s richest cities.

Gängeviertel

As a result of decades of demolition waves and destruction, there is hardly anything left that reminds us of this dark place. Since their occupation in 2009, the remaining houses have become home to a vibrant art and culture scene that can boast a variety of projects.

Gängeviertel

Whether workshops, dance evenings, concerts and raves or improvisation theater, exhibitions and readings: there is surely something for everyone.

Come on over to the alleys and find out!
