39C3 Community Radio FSK
Fiddly radio technology, analog audio, and interactive media: we visit the Freie Senderkombinat community radio and go live on air!
Hamburg-based Radio FSK has been an independent radio station since 1998, operating entirely on a voluntary basis without any paid positions. The studio is located in the Gängeviertel district. This building complex, with its characteristic Hamburg charm, was occupied by artists in 2009 and is now managed by a left-wing cooperative.

On this tour, you will gain insight into the work of an independent radio station and learn how 24/7 broadcasting can be achieved without permanent staff and with minimal resources. You will play with museum-worthy analog technology and marvel at the fantastic functional contraptions in the studio.
Afterwards, with technical assistance, you will sit down at the microphone yourself and send your voice out on analog and digital radio waves to the Hamburg air!
