We at Hamburg Hackertours show you around the city!

EH22 European XFEL

Join us for an exciting opportunity to explore the European XFEL. The 3.4 km long European XFEL generates extremely intense X-ray flashes used by researchers from all over the world. The flashes are produced in underground tunnels and allow scientists to map atomic details of viruses, film chemical reactions, and study processes like those in the interior of planets.

This tour includes the newly opened visitor center featuring an engaging exhibition. Moreover, we will descend five floors underground to the experimental hall, where researchers utilize X-ray beams for their experiments. A special highlight of this visit will be an exclusive tour of the Data Operation Center (DOC). With luck we have the unique opportunity to witness a simulated data processing session, where previous experiments could be replayed to demonstrate how operators handle live experiment data.
