Important news about Hamburg Hackertours and the tours:
This was a very nice Congress and we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! In the new year we are looking forward to many exciting tours both in Hamburg and elsewhere. As always: follow @hackertours@chaos.social](https://chaos.social/@hackertours) and keep an eye on hacker.tours](https://hacker.tours)!
We wish you all the best for the New Year!
Your HackerTours team
tl;dr: everything is working again, please continue using the instant payment bank transfer to pay for your tour bookings.
Unfortunately, we have just found out that although we can see your instant payments in online banking, they are only included in exports and HBCI transfers once they have been credited to our account. And because it’s the weekend, that won’t happen until Monday :-/
We may be able to fix the problem at short notice (Techniker ist informiert), but if not, just show us a transfer confirmation or similar at check-in if you can, and we will of course still take you with us.
Congress is about to start, and we are very excited to welcome you! If you are still eyeing that Hackertour but have not booked yet, here a few helpful hints:
Waiting List
If you have put yourself on the waiting list for a tour, you will receive an email no later than 24 hours before the tour to let you know that a place has become available. You then have one day to book the place, otherwise it will be offered to the next person on the list. We will close the waiting lists no later than one day in advance. Any remaining places will be allocated at check-in on site.
We have managed to secure a cool art project at short notice: the Körperfunk collective invites you to explore walking as a cultural technique in Planten un Blomen and at the CCH: on day 1, 2, and 3 at 6 p.m. each day.
There are also a few remaining spots for these tours:
You can book your tours in the Hackertours Shop now. The first tours are already fully booked, so don’t wait too long!

Highlights
Any child of the 80s can travel back in time at the Retro Games Museum to C63, Atari, Apple II, Nintendo, and more! About 50 seats have original hardware and software, and you can play! With this ticket, you can enter any time between 1pm and 10pm and plan your own visit.
We have prepared twelve tours for you, take a look: 39C3 Hackertours.
Last year, the Tour of the Giants was in high demand, so this year, we are having it on day 1, 2, and 3. And of course, we cannot miss the Miniatur-Wunderland.
A small but exciting tour let’s you learn about the brand new (sic) electric firetruck, if you manage to show up at CCH on day 3 and 09:30 (German only unfortunately).
We are preparing tours again for 39C3. As soon as we have nailed down the details, we’ll let you know here.
To stay on top of the tours, follow us on Mastodon @hackertours@chaos.social!
For many of our tours there are still places available at the Hackertours desk! Simply come to the desk (next to the heaven/info/* desk) for the tours on offer.
From now on, you can also reach us via Matrix:
#easterhegg-2025-hackertours:hamburg.ccc.de
The Easterhegg is hosted by Kampnagel - a good opportunity to learn about the history of this place! During the tour of the site, your guide Katja will tell you how the crane factory became a cultural institution.

We will discover Hamburg from its most beautiful side - on board of the oldest and only genuine Alster steamer, the “St. Georg” from 1876. The crew, consisting of the captain, the engineer and the conductor, will take us on a trip back in time on the faithfully restored steamship “St. Georg”.
On this exclusive 90 minute tour starting directly at Kampnagel, we will sail on the Outer Alster, the Inner Alster, and also take a look at some of the canals and tributaries.
Harbor cruise “Hoffnung Hafen” (Harbor of Hope) - migration and racism
On this tour, we will tell you about people who have passed through the “Gateway to the World” in the past and today.
For example, you will see and learn about
- the location of the first emigrant barracks and the living conditions of these people
- places where people from other countries were employed as workers at various times
- the accommodation of refugees and how they were treated
- ships in which stowaways arrived in Hamburg
We are interested in the reasons for emigration and immigration and the ways in which it took and takes place. You will also learn about how these people are treated in the “cosmopolitan city” of Hamburg.
“Of treasure chests and pepper sacks” - The port of Hamburg in unequal world trade
Where does our coffee come from, where is the world’s largest warehouse for oriental carpets located and why does desperately poor Liberia have one of the largest trading fleets? A journey behind the backdrop of brick walls and container gantry cranes. It’s about coffee and cocoa, soybeans and bananas, jeans and armaments.
The tour illustrates the background to world trade with Africa, Asia and Latin America. It explains why coffee and cocoa have become so cheap, why scrap metal is an export hit and who makes money from the extremely unequal trade between North and South.
Update: There are still places available for some of the HackerTours:

(Almost) all tours are on this website, and the shop is open for you to book a spot on one of the tours! Over the coming weeks, we will highlight the tours on Mastodon @hackertours@chaos.social, so be sure to follow us there.
This year, we are particularly pleased to be able to offer tours that can be very hard to book individually, for example Tour of the Giants or Miniatur Wunderland. Enjoy browsing and booking!
